SPOKANE, Wash. – For some, Hoopfest is a serious competition with pride on the line.
For Nick Cerenzia, Ryan Sharp and Sean Flatow, and Willly Murphy, it’s a different story.
Three years ago, this e-on-3 team decided that winning wasn’t too important. Instead, entertaining themselves and the crowd became their main goal.
They call themselves Pup ‘N Suds, after a story line in a Disney movie.
The guys have their own sound system, a mascot, and some interesting costumes. You might say each player pushes the fashion limits.
Their approach on the court might be a little unconventional: make themselves, their competitors and the crowd laugh. But you have to hand it to them; it has worked in the past.
Besides having a blast, they have made it to the quarter finals. One year, they won the consolation bracket.
