Brendan Burke turned away all 32 Spokane shots as the Chiefs saw their 4 game winning streak snapped with a 6-0 loss to the Portland Winterhawks Friday night in Portland, OR. Portland is now 7-0 against the Chiefs this season and have won 15 in a row over the last two seasons vs. Spokane. The shutout was Burke's second of the year against Spokane.
Keegan Iverson's power play goal midway through the first period gave Portland a 1-0 lead after one. Spokane outshot Portland 12-8 in the first. The Winterhawks would score three goals in the second, two to them from Oliver Bjorkstrand, to take a 4-0 lead after two periods. Portland would cap the scoring with two goals in the third on backup goalie Garret Hughson, who replaced starter Eric Williams to start the third.
Spokane was outshot 33-32 in the contest, going 0-2 on the power play while Portland was 3-6 with the man advantage. The Chiefs will look to bounce back as they head to Everett to face the Silvertips Saturday night at 7:05pm.
