The Spokane Chiefs had their 2 game winning streak snapped Saturday night at Tri Cities as the Americans scored 4 goals in the first period on their way to a 6-0 win. Spokane still remains in 4th place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of Tri City and Victoria.
Connor Rankin scored just 3:38 into the game to put Tri City up 1-0. Lucas Nickles would extend the lead to 2-0 at 7:29. Rankin would get his second of the night on the power play at 16:07 to make it 3-0 Tri City. Marcus Messier would cap the 4 goal third with a short handed goal at 19:46. Tri City would get two more in the second period as Brian Williams scored at the 6 minute mark and Parker Bowles scored at 15:42 to put the Americans up 6-0 after two.
Neither team scored in the third period as Tri City outshot the Chiefs 39-34 while Spokane went 0-4 on the power play and Tri City 1-7. Spokane will finish their road trip with a Monday afternoon game in Portland.
