SPOKANE -- The Spokane Chiefs will conclude their 2011 Fall Camp with the Red-White Scrimmage on Sunday, August 28th in the Spokane Arena at 1:00. The scrimmage is free and open to the public. Fans can enter the Arena through the Chiefs' office on the southeast corner of the building.
The Red-White scrimmage will feature roughly 40 of the 64 players that are taking part in the Chiefs' camp, including the 15 roster players and others off Spokane's 50-player protected list.
The Chiefs' camp features all 11 of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft class, including Tanner MacMaster, a center from Calgary, Alberta. MacMaster scored 42 goals and 92 points in 32 games last season with the Calgary Bisons of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL). Justin Loepker, a Spokane native taken with their sixth round pick, also is participating in camp.
MacMaster is one of four former first round bantam picks in town. Mitch Holmberg (2008) is returning for his third season after scoring 15 goals last season. Defenseman Reid Gow (2009) is entering his second season while Tyler King (2010) will be eligible top play full-time as a 16-year-old rookie. King appeared in 37 games and had 17 points last season in Moose Jaw of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
