SPOKANE -- They started with 65 players four weeks ago. Now the Chiefs are down to 24, with four days to go until the puck drops on a new season.

Don Nachbaur and company enter the games that matter Saturday with their annual opener at Tri-City.

On Tuesday the team made its final roster moves, which included the release of three players with experience from last year - Stewart Coyle, Adam Power, and Tyson Predinchuk.

Spokane went 3-4 in the preseason, and will likely have to weather some growing pains early on. After a jam packed month, nachbaur has a pretty good idea what he's got with this group.

"We're gonna have to be patient with a young group at the start, and hopefully we get better daily," Nachbaur said.

The Chiefs open the year at Tri-City Saturday and play two at Victoria before their home opener September 28th against the Americans.
