There are just 22 baseball teams remaining in the state heading into the final week of the spring sports season.
In the 4A tournament Gonzaga Prep beat Auburn-Riverside 6-5 at Avista Stadium in the first round. Mead had its season end against Richland 11-0. The Bombers went on to defeat the Bullpups 6-5 to advance to the state semifinals.
In Yakima Mt. Spokane had its season end in the first round of the 3A tournament, 11-2 against Kamiakin.
Cheney advanced to the 2A quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Ellensburg. But East Valley-Yakima ended the Blackhawks' season with a 9-0 final score.
The 2B tournament go started at Gonzaga Prep with a 4-3 Riverside Christian win over Reardan, and and a 9-6 Asotin victory over Northwest Christian. Asotin went on to beat Riverside Christian 10-5 to get into the semifinals. They'll play at Rotary Field in Ellensburg May 25th, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
In 1B play Colton defeated Odessa-Harrington 5-2 to advance to the state championship. They'll face Almira Coulee Hartline, who topped Oakville 14-4.
