KREM 2's Darnay Tripp has highlights from Saturday's games, which had regional titles and state tournament bids on the line.
In 4A sub-regional play Mead used a three-run seventh inning to beat GSL rival Ferris 5-4. The win earns the Panthers a spot in the state tournament. Meanwhile Gonzaga Prep visited Richland for the region crown. The Bombers took advantage of the Bullpup's miscues, en route to a 5-1 win. Gonzaga Prep takes the two seed into the state tournament.
The 3A action included a sub-regional title matchup between Kennewick and Mt. Spokane. The Wildcats settled for the two seed, after the 17-4 defeat.
Cheney hosted Selah for the 2A region crown. The Vikings and Blackhawks battled to a 1-1 tie after seven innings. Selah plated four in the eighth to grab a 5-1 win, giving Cheney the two seed. Ellensburg ended East Valley's season, handing the Knights a 8-2 loss.
