SPOKANE -- To put it simply, it was a wild night in the Greater Spokane League.

The biggest game of them all was the HS GameTime Game of the Week, pitting Gonzaga Prep and Central Valley against each other.

With a win, the Bears would have clinched at least a share of the GSL title, but the Bullpups were out to spoil the party, and they did just that. Gonzaga Prep beat CV, 29-13. It's the Bears first league loss.

As expected, the Bullpups won this game on the ground. They registered 303 rushing yards on 56 carries. Bishop Sankey led the charge with 198 yards, including a 25 yard touchdown to stick the nail in the coffin. Shane Schmidlkofer had 102 yards on the ground and two TDs.

Central Valley jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game thanks to a field goal by Jake Miller and a touchdown from Taylor Evans, but two turnovers late in the second quarter led to Gonzaga Prep scores. The Bullpups never looked back.

Mt. Spokane (who beat Shadle Park, 49-7) and Central Valley are now on top of the GSL at 6-1. Mead is right behind those two at 6-2 after a 30-13 win against University, while Gonzaga Prep is 5-2 with a win in the HS GameTime Game of the Week.

In the most surprising turn of events, Ferris lost to rival Lewis & Clark 42-20. The Saxons are now 4-3 in league play, while the Tigers are 3-4.
