TWIN FALLS -- Twin Falls County officials say a car went off a county road after missing a curve west of Filer, killing two people, including a freshman baseball player at the College of Southern Idaho.

Officials say 19-year-old catcher Devon Austin and 18-year-old Ryan Rhinehart, both of Coeur d'Alene, were killed shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday when their car went off Clover Road, near U.S. Highway 30.

Austin was named Idaho's Gatorade baseball player of the year last season and initially signed with New Mexico State.

The Chicago Cubs drafted him in the 45th round of June's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

The Times-News reports he decided to go to junior college to increase his draft stock over the next two years.

Another Coeur d'Alene resident, 19-year-old Jessica Duran, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
