Gonzaga rolls Waves
11:25 PM PST on Monday, January 14, 2008
MALIBU, Ca--Gonzaga destroyed Pepperdine Monday night in Firestone Fieldhouse in a game that resembled a high school varsity-junior varsity scrimmage as the Bulldogs (13-4, 2-0) beat up the overmatched Waves (6-12, 0-2).

Jeremy Pargo dunks against Pepperdine in Gonzaga's 92-57 win.
Pepperdine played their chaotic fast-break, three-point offense, but didn't shoot the ball well at all. The Waves completely forgot about playing defense as the Zags sliced through their full court pressure with a controlled fast break that allowed them to shoot 62% in the first half.
Gonzaga broke out to a 28-8 lead in the first eight minutes of the game and never looked back.
The Waves lack of defense lead to a season's highlights worth of dunks and acrobatic layups for the Bulldogs.
Austin Daye hit all five of his shots in the first half for 12 points, including a memorable sequence midway through the half where he scored seven points in a row on a finger-roll, three-pointer, and reverse layup.
Matt Bouldin also scored 12 points in the first half as the Bulldogs were up 50-27 at intermission.
Bouldin finished with 16 points on 7-12 shooting.
Daye led all scorers with 19 points on 7-8 shooting and added six rebounds.
David Pendergraft added 14 points and Josh Heytvelt had 11 points.
Jeremy Pargo, held scoreless with a sore back against LMU on Saturday, had two thunder dunks and finished with six points.
The Zags shot 61% for the game.
Pepperdine shot only 35% for the game, with Tyrone Shelley leading the Waves with 15 points.
Gonzaga will play San Diego Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center with KREM 2 Sports Director Tom Hudson with the call on 1510 KGA.
