SPOKANE – Sitting atop the West Coast Conference standings, the Gonzaga University baseball team finds itself ranked No. 22 in three national polls Monday. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, Perfect Game and Baseball America all have the Bulldogs (26-11-1, 13-5 WCC) 22nd-ranked in their weekly poll.
This is the first appearance for the Zags in Perfect Game’s College Top 25 and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30. Gonzaga has been previous ranked by Baseball America, moving up from No. 24 to No. 22 since last week.
The Bulldogs have taken the WCC by storm this season. GU has won three consecutive WCC series and the club is 9-1 in its last 10 games. The Bulldogs saw its 11-game win streak snapped Sunday at Pepperdine University but Gonzaga still took the series two games to one.
The Zags have a busy week ahead of themselves with five games in five days starting Tuesday when in-state rival University of Washington visits Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field. After a two-game set with the Huskies, Gonzaga will resume WCC play and host BYU for three games beginning Thursday.
