SPOKANE -- The Gonzaga men's basketball team keeps building for the future.
The Bulldogs received a commitment from Ryan Spangler out of Blanchard, Oklahoma, on Monday. The CBS affiliate News 9 in Oklahoma City confirmed that he will join the Zags next season.
Spangler is a 6'7" forward, but he's also the star quarterback on the school's football team. He had scholarship offers in both sports. No one was sure which he would pursue in college until now.
According to Spangler, he had 11 scholarship offers on the table for basketball. That list included Gonzaga, Creighton, and Tulsa.
Spangler will enroll at Gonzaga with Kentridge High School's Gary Bell, Jr., Boise's Kyle Dranginis, and Gonzaga Prep's Chris Sarbaugh as a freshmen in 2011-12.
