SPOKANE -- Gonzaga's Vivian Frieson will have the chance to continue her basketball career as a professional.
Frieson was selected by the Tulsa Shock in the third round of Thursday's WNBA Draft. She was the 31st overall selection and is the first Gonzaga player ever picked.
"“I am extremely happy and look forward to making the team,” said Frieson. “Just because I saw my name be announced doesn’t mean I can stop working hard it means that I have to work even harder."
Frieson, a 21-year-old forward, averaged 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as a senior. She scored 1,106 total points in her four-year career with the Bulldogs.
The Tulsa Shock are formerly the Detroit Shock. They'll play their first year in Oklahoma this coming season.
Former Lewis & Clark High School and Gonzaga star Heather Bowman went undrafted.
