Gonzaga (27-5) advanced to the second round of the Big Dance by beating Rutgers 86-73 on Saturday, while Miami (26-5) took down Idaho State 70-41 in the opening round.
The Bulldogs are an 11-seed, while the Hurricanes are a 3-seed. They've only played once in the past before. Miami took down Gonzaga 79-53 during the 1987 season.
The Hurricanes are without one of their top players. Senior Riquna Williams did not accompany the Hurricanes on their trip to Spokane due to conduct detrimental to the team. Williams, a 5'7" guard, was averaging 16.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
If the Zags take down Miami, it will be their third consecutive trip to the Sweet 16.
