SPOKANE -- Gonzaga University was one of 16 institutions selected to host the first and second rounds of the 2013 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament on Monday.

The Bulldogs, who are hosting the first and second rounds for the second-straight year this season, will host the opening weekend action at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

“I am truly ecstatic for Gonzaga to host once again,” said women’s basketball head coach Kelly Graves, in his 12th year at the helm. “It is a true testament to the great fans here in Spokane and given last year’s success in hosting, in which we heard over and over how exciting the environment was, it will once again give Gonzaga the opportunity to showcase it’s arena and our basketball community.”

If Gonzaga earns a bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament it automatically will be seeded at the McCarthey Athletic Center for the first and second rounds.

Ticket prices and on-sale dates for the 2013 first and second round games will be announced at a later time.
