SPOKANE -- The Gonzaga University men’s basketball team is once again the favorite to win the 2011 West Coast Conference regular-season champion. The Bulldogs are seeking an 11th straight title.
Gonzaga received six of the eight first-place votes from WCC coaches and a total of 48 points to out-distance Loyola Marymount University with 42 points and Saint Mary’s College with 39, those two schools each garnering one first-place vote.
“One of our goals every year is to win the conference title,” Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said. “People don’t understand how difficult this conference is, which makes it all that more meaningful when you do win it.”
Santa Clara was picked to finish fourth in the WCC, followed by Portland, San Francisco, Pepperdine, and San Diego.
