GU women draw Iowa in first round of NCAA Tournament

SPOKANE -- The Gonzaga women's basketball team earned an 11-seed and will face 6-seed Iowa in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday in Spokane.

The Bulldogs battle the Hawkeyes at 1pm at McCarthey Athletic Center. You can also watch the game live on ESPN2.

Gonzaga finished the regular season 28-4 overall and 14-0 in the West Coast Conference. It's the second straight year they've gone undefeated in the WCC and also earned the automatic NCAA berth by winning the conference tournament. The Zags are currently riding a 18-game winning streak.

As for the Hawkeyes, they received an at-large bid out of the Big 10 Conference. They finished the season 22-8 overall and 10-6 in conference. They lost to Ohio State in the Big 10 Tournament on March 4th. They're winners in only five of their last eight games.

If Gonzaga gets through the first round, they face the winner of Saturdays matchup between (3) UCLA and (14) Montana. They play at 3:30pm at McCarthey Athletic Center and will also be shown live on ESPN2. The Bulldogs are in the Spokane Region, so they'll play in Veterans Memorial Arena if they make it to the Sweet 16.

Session tickets are sold out, but you can by individual game tickets on Wednesday starting at 9am. You can get a seat at GoZags.com or TicketsWest.com or you can also go to the ticket window at McCarthey Athletic Center. Adult tickets are $20, while youth tickets (12 and under) are $12.
