EUGENE -- The Everett AquaSox defeated the Eugene Emeralds 5-0 Wednesday night behind a gem from left-handed starter Tyler Olson. Olson pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout for his first win of his professional career.
Neither team scored for the first five innings of the game. Olson and Emeralds' starter Erik Cabrera deftly traded zeroes, and it looked like it would be a pitcher's duel.
The night belonged to Olson though, as he finished out the final three frames with nine consecutive outs. He went all nine innings, allowing just one hit while striking out ten and walking one. It was just the third complete game in the entire Northwest League in 2013 and the first shutout.
