When you think Gonzaga athletics, football is the last thing on your mind. The school has not fielded a team since 1941, yet a former Bulldog somehow just earned a spot in the National Football League.
Demetri Goodson, who hit the runner against Western Kentucky in 2009 to push the Bulldogs into the Sweet 16, has found a spot on the 53-man roster in Green Bay. After spending three years in Spokane, he would later transfer to Baylor to pursue a career in football.
The Packers drafted Goodson in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL draft. It is quite the circuitious route, but nonetheless, the Zags have some representation in the league.
