SPOKANE -- KREM 2 News got a first look Saturday at a highly sought after high school basketball play who is verbally committed to play for Gonzaga.
If all goes as planned, Kyle Dranginis will be suiting up for Gonzaga in the fall of 2011. He says it will be a dream come true.
Dranginis is playing in a tournament at West Valley High School in Spokane Valley on Saturday. Dranginis will be entering his senior year this fall at Skyview High School just outside of Boise, Idaho.
"He's got unlimited range and he is about 6'5" and he might get to 6'7" if he keeps growing. So he's really tough to guard when he's 5 to 6 feet behind the three point line and that spreads defense," said coach Loren Schwarzhoff.
Dranginis says he has gotten offers from Boise State, Utah State and Utah. Notre Dame has given him some looks as well as the University of Oregon and Virginia. Coaches from Gonzaga watched him play last year in a tournament in Seattle. Later, they offered him a basketball scholarship.
Dranginis has verbally committed to attend Gonzaga. That means no other schools can contact him. He hopes to make it official in November which is the earliest he can sign.
