After six seasons on the bench alongside Mark Few, Ray Giacoletti will return to the head coaching ranks at Drake.

News broke Thursday morning that Giacoletti will take over the Bulldogs from Des Moines, Iowa. It marks a return to the Midwest for the Peoria, Illinois native.

Giacoletti came to Gonzaga following three seasons as Utah's head coach, where he compiled a 54-40 record. He landed the job in Salt Lake City following four seasons at Eastern Washington. Giacoletti went 69-50 in Cheney, taking the program to its first NCAA Tournament in 2004.

His first head coaching job was at then-Division II North Dakota State.

Giacoletti takes over for Mark Phelps, who posted a 77-86 mark in five years at the helm.
