Stacy Clinesmith admits one of the proudest moments of her life came when Gonzaga hired her last month as a women's assistant basketball coach.
"I can't even describe how happy I am to be here and how hard I want to work for this program and this community."
Before she joined Gonzaga's program, Clinesmith had already made a name for herself in the Spokane hoops scene. She stands as only the fourth Spokane native to get drafted in the WNBA, playing nearly 3 seasons in the league.
She believes that experience of playing in the pros can only help her in the coaching ranks.
"It's an automatic in with the players. Players respect you a bit more if you've played in the WNBA. It definitely helps."
Prior to her work in the pro ranks, she carried UCSB to the NCAA Tournament every year she laced up the sneakers in Santa Barbara. The former point guard even carried Mead High School to a state championship in 1996.
