SPOKANE -- Former Lewis & Clark High School and Gonzaga women’s basketball player Heather Bowman has been invited to Seattle Storm’s training camp. The Storm begins camp on Sunday.
“I am so proud of Heather,” said GU head coach Kelly Graves. “She had a great career at Gonzaga and she truly is ‘Zag Basketball’. I am happy she gets the opportunity to go to training camp and chance to play at the next level."
Bowman becomes the second Zag in school history - and this season - to be invited to a WNBA training camp as fellow classmate Vivian Frieson was drafted by the Tulsa Shock in the third round of the 2010 draft.
“I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to try out for the Seattle Storm,” said Bowman. “I am extremely excited to head over to Seattle and begin the next stage of my playing career.”
Bowman ended her Gonzaga career as one of the most prolific players in program and West Coast Conference history. The GU and WCC career scoring leader with 2,165 points, Bowman averaged 16.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assist per contest over her four-year career.
