SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University baseball senior Royce Bolinger was named Rawlings West Coast Conference Player for the Month for May, as announced by the league office Thursday. It is the second straight month Bolinger received the WCC's monthly honor.
An outfielder from Scottsdale, Ariz., Bolinger started all 15 games in the month of May, going 28-for-64 (.438) with seven doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs while driving in 18 runs. He helped the Bulldogs sweep the University of Portland 7-6 by going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. In the BYU series last weekend, he went 5-for-16 with two doubles and 7 RBI and set Gonzaga's new single-season record for hits with 93, passing Drew Heid's 2010 mark of 92.
Along with tallying 93 hits, Bolinger finished his senior campaign leading the Bulldogs with a .392 batting average, 15 two-baggers, three triples and 11 homers. He slugged for a .620 percentage while compiling a .441 on-base percentage.
