30 second game guide
Bring'em Out: Gonzaga Bulldogs 14-8 (4-3 WCC) vs. Portland Pilots 16-6 (4-3 WCC) Thursday at the Chiles Center 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
Watch For: How short the Zags' memory is. Just because GU throttled the Pilots in the Kennel earlier this year (74-61) doesn't mean it's going to be a similar outcome on the road. The Bulldogs have shown us all they are unpredictable on the road at best. They've still yet to snag a conference win away from Spokane. If the Bulldogs bring in the right attitude Thursday, they'll be able to come out of the Rose City with a victory. If not, Gonzaga will be forced to win the WCC Tournament to attend the Big Dance in March.
Fear: Nemanja Mitrovich. Just like the rest of the Portland roster, the junior guard is lethal from beyond the arc. UP is the third-best three point shooting team in the country, and that scares Bulldogs to death. The Pilots are coming off an absolute rout of first-place Saint Mary's in which they connected on 13-of-20 triples (65%). If the bombs start dropping in this one, chances are the Zags won't be able to side-step them.
Respect: Tim Douglas. He's a freshman and he's on fire. 64 points in the past four games, including 26 against the Gaels, Douglas is playing like he doesn't recognize the pressure of big games.
Random Stuff: The Zags have owned the Pilots over the past decade, beating them 29 of 30 times (only loss came in 2003). Gonzaga hasn't lost four WCC games since 1998, where the Bulldogs finished in first place.
