The future of Gonzaga's backcourt got even brighter Monday, with former Providence guard Gerard Coleman opting to join Mark Few's program.
As a sophomore the 6-foot-4-inch 180 lb guard started 21 games, averaging 13.2 points and 5.0 rebounds. Prior to landing at Providence he finished his prep career at the Tilton School in New Hampshire.
CBSSports.com College Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman reported Coleman's decision, saying the Boston native picked the Zags over Xavier.
Coleman's AAU team, Boston Amateur Basketball Club, echoed the news on Twitter with a post Monday afternoon:
"BABC congratulates alum Gerard Coleman '10 on his transfer to Gonzaga."
Due to the NCAA transfer rules Coleman will be required to sit out the 2012-2013 season, after which he will have two years of eligibility remaining at Gonzaga.
