SPOKANE -- The Spokane Shock are set to start a new era on Friday. That's when the team opens its first regular season as a member of the Arena Football League.
The Shock are scheduled to play the Milwaukee Iron at Veterans Memorial Arena at 8pm. The game will start late so it doesn't compete with the NFL Network's AFL Game of the Week (scheduled from 5pm-8pm PT). There are still plenty of great seats available for the contest.
It was a wild offseason for Spokane. They were technically a member of the arenafootball2, Arena Football One, and Arena Football League. Everything is finally settled and the fun starts this week.
You can expect to see many new faces on the field this year, but there are several familiar players as well. Kyle Rowley, who led the Shock to a championship in 2006, is the starting quarterback, former Eastern Washington star Raul Vijil is a wide receiver, and Ben McCombs is back on the defensive line, among other returning players.
