Shock add two familiar faces to coaching staff

Posted on October 22, 2009 at 9:15 AM

The Spokane Shock announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement with Steve Emtman and Travis Crusenberry to join the coaching staff for the 2010 season.

Emtman will return as the defensive line/strength and conditioning coach for the fourth straight season with the Shock, while Crusenberry will serve as the offensive line coach.

In 1992, Emtman was selected first overall in the NFL draft after he completed a decorated college career at the University of Washington that included a national championship.

“His knowledge of strength and conditioning is unparalleled,” head coach Rob Keefe explained. “His passion for coaching is only equaled by the skills he displayed as a player. Over the last three seasons, our players have shown tremendous improvement under his tutelage and that tradition will continue this season.”

Crusenberry was a member of the Spokane Shock coaching staff in 2006 under Chris Siegfried. Crusenberry followed Siegfried to join the Kansas City Brigade where he served as offensive line coach and director of player personnel for two years. Last season, Crusenberry rejoined Siegfried and served as assistant head coach of the Arkansas Twisters.

“Coach Crusenberry is one of the best coaches in the business,” Keefe said. “He is one of the best offensive line coaches that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. His knowledge of the arena game and his teaching ability will be invaluable to our players.”

All coaching contracts are subject to final approval by the AF1 league office in early November.
