CHENEY -- Instead of dreaming for a white Christmas this holiday season, the Eastern Washington football team has visions of a national championship dancing in their heads.

The Eagles play Delaware for the FCS national championship on January 7th in Frisco, Texas. The game is scheduled for 4pm (PT) and will be televised on ESPN2.

Playing for a championship is nothing new for the Fightin' Blue Hens. Delaware has reeled in six national titles (1946, 1963, 1971, 1972, 1979, 2003). That's not the case for the Eagles. Eastern Washington has never even played in a national championship game.

The Eagles earned the right to play for the top trophy on December 17th when they took down Villanova in the semifinals. With that said, it's just now starting to sink in for the Eagles that they're one win away from a national crown.

KREM 2 Sports Director Tim Lewis will be in Frisco with the Eastern Washington football team starting on January 4th. He'll have live reports from Texas on KREM 2 News starting January 5th. Tim will also be blogging for KREM.com and he'll be tweeting (follow him @TLKREM2) on the road as well.
