It is an anxious week for hundreds of former college football stars, with the 2013 NFL Draft arriving Thursday. After a record breaking junior season, count Brandon Kaufman among that group.
The former Eastern Washington wide receiver has been in Cheney, and has fielded calls from around 20 NFL teams in recent weeks. The top single-season receiver in FCS history (1,850 yards) said "crazy" is the best way to describe the process.
While he hasn't had the customary team visits, he does feel good about his standing. Kaufman says Minnesota, Tampa Bay and Buffalo are among those who have seemed the most interested.
Kaufman's agent expects him to go in the 5th round, and no later than the 6th.
The 2013 NFL Draft begins with Round 1 Thursday, continues with the 2nd and 3rd Rounds Friday, and wraps up with Rounds 4-7 Saturday.
