CHENEY -- The Eastern Washington football team opened spring practice on Wednesday.
The Eagles get the 15 practices allowed by the NCAA with scrimmages scheduled for April 10th (1pm), April 17th (12:30pm), and April 24th (Red-White Game, 2pm).
EWU finished 8-4 last season with a trip to the postseason, but the Eagles lost many of their key starters. Quarterback Matt Nichols, wide receiver Aaron Boyce, and linebacker Makai Borden all graduated, among others.
It appears that Eastern will be able to plug those holes, especially at quarterback. The leading candidate to take the starting job is transfer Bo Levi Mitchell, who comes to EWU from Southern Methodist University. If he can't secure the job this spring, there are five other quarterbacks on the roster.
We'll be following the Eagles throughout the spring, so be sure to watch KREM 2 News and check back to KREM.com for the latest.
