Seattle Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond is expected to begin serving a four game suspension starting this week. ESPN.com reports the suspension is for violating the NFL's non-PED substance policy.
The timing could not be worse for Seattle, which is 10-1 and trying to hold on to home field advantage in the NFC. The Seahawks are on a bye week, but face a dangerous passing offense in the New Orleans Saints next Monday night, Dec. 2. The following week, they visit the San Francisco 49ers. A Seattle sweep of both games would give the Seahawks the NFC West title.
Thurmond was thrust into the starting role after CB Brandon Browner suffered an injured groin. Browner is not expected back for several weeks.
