Former Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson may be returning to Seattle in a backup role.

ESPN reports that league sources told Adam Schefter the Seahawks would sign Jackson to a one-year deal.

In a discussion with a fan on Twitter, a post by Jackson's account read, "Headed that way tomorrow to make it official!"

Jackson was Seattle's starter in 2011, but was traded to the Buffalo Bills prior to last season when Russell Wilson became the starter and Matt Flynn was named his backup.

Jackson spent the entire 2012 season as the third string quarterback. Even though he signed a new contract, the Bills placed him on waivers this week.

Flynn is now with the Raiders following an offseason trade. The Seahawks signed Brady Quinn as a backup.
