Gonzaga men's basketball fans got their first look Saturday at the seven new faces on the Zags team this year during the annual Kraziness in the Kennel event.
Hundreds of fans were lined up 30 minutes before the doors opened at 4 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center. 6,000 fans ended up packing the Kennel to watch the players scrimmage each other in three separate quarters.
Senior Matt Bouldin and freshman Elias Harris led all scorers with 14 points each in a format where some players would play for both intrasquad teams and the score was re-set to zero for each period. Sophomore point guard Demetri Goodson and freshman forward Mangisto Arop both had 11.
Freshman center Bol Kong was the only player who didn't see any action. He sat out with a sore foot.
This year's event also featured performances by Gonzaga's cheerleaders and dance team, but unlike the last two years there was no dance performance by the team.
Perhaps the biggest surprise for the fans, besides Harris' two monster dunks, was junior guard Steven Gray's new afro and beard, which he called a "work in progress" and "much easier than having to make a hair appointment."
Gonzaga hosts their lone exhibition game November 2 against the University of Alberta.
