PULLMAN -- The Washington State University men's basketball team is picked to finish 8th in the Pac-10 this year.

The preseason media poll was released on Thursday.

California was pegged as the favorite, but Washington and UCLA also received first place votes.

The Cougars are easily one of the youngest teams in the country. WSU has only one upperclassman this season, Nikola Koprivica. Every other player on the roster is a freshman or sophomore.

Wazzu will also have to adjust to a new coaching staff. Ken Bone, formerly at Portland State, is now in charge after Ton Bennett took a job at Virginia.

Washington State finished 17-16 last year. That was good enough for 7th in the Pac-10. The Cougars also earned an at-large bid for the NIT.

WSU plays an exhibition game on November 9th against Lewis-Clark State College. They then open the regular season on November 13th at home against Mississippi Valley State.
