Gonzaga University junior Kelly Olynyk is the West Coast Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a three-game road sweep last week.
Olynyk, a junior from Kamloops, British Columbia, averaged 23.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg, went 23-for-35 from the field for 65.7 percent, 2-4 from 3-point range and 22-for-26 from the free throw line for 84.6 percent. He helped Gonzaga take a three-games-in-three-cities-in-seven-days road sweep with wins at Oklahoma State, Pepperdine and Santa Clara.
After going scoreless in first half at OSU he scored all 21 of his points in the second-half, going 10-for-12 from the field. He scored 14 of his 16 points at Pepperdine in the second half, finishing the game 4-for-8 from the field and 7-9 from the line.
Olynyk capped the week with a career-high 33 points at SCU and recorded his second career double-double with 10 rebounds. He went 12-for-15 from the field, made his only 3-point attempt and went 8-for-9 from the line. Olynyk is third in the country in field goal percentage at 67.5 percent, connecting on 85-of-126 field goal attempts.
