SPOKANE--The NCAA announced that Gonzaga's McCarthey Athletic Center will be a site for games in the 2011 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

Gonzaga University will host first and second round games either March 19 and March 21 or March 20 and March 22, 2011.  The dates will be determined in June 2010.

Washington State University will host third and fourth round regional games at Spokane Veterans Arena the following week on March 26 and March 28, 2011.

"We are exited about the tournament, it is a historic moment for us and we're thrilled," said Gonzaga University Athletic Director Mike Roth.

Gonzaga University women's basketball coach Kelly Graves said he is also excited and that the tournament gives the university a chance to show the McCarthey Athletic Center to the rest of the country.

The city of Spokane last hosted third and fourth round regional NCAA  Women's Tournament games in 2008.

This is the first time that Gonzaga will host a Division One NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament event.
