BOISE -- Another high-scoring shootout and the appearance of Idaho helped the Boise-based Humanitarian Bowl tie a record for television ratings.
Bowl officials announced Monday the December 30th game between the Vandals and Bowling Green drew more than three million viewers and a Nielsen rating of 2.4, tying the record set last year.
The Vandals won the game in the final seconds. Idaho scored a touchdown with four seconds left, then connected on a two-point conversion to beat the Falcons 43-42.
Humanitarian Bowl Executive Director Kevin McDonald says the rating shows the annual game has appeal to fans nationwide expecting to see a wild and entertaining matchup.
Idaho and Bowling Green accounted for 85 total points, the most in the bowl's 13-year history and much better than the 64 points per game averaged in previous years.
