Domantas Sabonis has signed with Gonzaga and will join Mark Few's team beginning in the 2014-2015 season.

Sabonis is the latest highly touted international recruit to choose the Zags. According to Eurohopes.com he is the number one European recruit born in 1996. Jerry Meyer of 247Sports.com rates Sabonis as a five-star prospect that projects as an NBA player.

“Domas is a skilled basketball player who should have an immediate impact on our program. We’re excited to have the opportunity to allow him to continue his development as a basketball player while continuing his education,” Few said.

The 6-foot-10-inch 210-pound left-handed 17-year-old played this past season for Unicaja Malaga in Spain. The club announced Wednesday that Sabonis informed them that he planned on forgoing a professional contract to play college basketball in the United States. Recent reports quoted Arvydas, saying his son was leaning towards Gonzaga if he decided to go the college route.

In the 2013 FIBA U-18 Tournament Sabonis averaged 14 points and 11.4 rebounds.

A scout who has seen Sabonis play on multiple occasions had this to say about the forward: "Has a soft touch around the basket, good mobility and balance. Has great hands and is a good rebounder and defender. Will be able to play small forward, power forward and center... Will be a great fit for the Gonzaga program."

Sabonis' father played eight seasons in the NBA, all for Portland. He was inducted to the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
