SPOKANE – The Gonzaga University women’s basketball team jumped up one spot in the Associated Press Top 25, checking in at No. 24 Monday.
Despite their four-point loss to 11th ranked University of Oklahoma in the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT, the Bulldogs gained five votes this week for a total of 104 and moved into the No. 24 spot. The Zags are ahead of DePaul University (No. 25, 76 votes) and behind the University of Georgia (No. 23, 157).
The University of Connecticut remains No. 1. After easily sweeping three Top 25 teams last week, the Huskies garnered all 36 first-place votes and 900 total. Connecticut is followed by Duke University, University of Tennessee, University of Louisville and University of Norte Dame.
Gonzaga is back in action Wednesday when it hosts Eastern Washington University at the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Bulldogs (2-1) and Eagles (0-2) showdown is set for 6 p.m.
