LUBBOCK, Texas (June 15, 2013) – Gonzaga University junior Marco Gonzales will look to add a major award to his resume as the pitcher/first baseman was named one of three finalists for The College Baseball Hall of Fame’s John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award announced the organization Saturday.

The Fort Collins, Colo., native is coming off a stellar season with the Bulldogs that saw him selected 19th overall in Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft to the St. Louis Cardinals. The left-handed hitter and pitcher finished the season with a 7-3 record and a 2.80 ERA in 106 innings. At the plate the Co-West Coast Conference Player of the Year led the Zags with a .313 batting average, two home runs and 26 RBI.

Gonzales was also recently tabbed a second-team All-American from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Baseball America and Perfect Game.
