The Eags had gone nearly a month without a win, which for Eastern Washington's standards is a pretty long time. That's just one reason Saturday's Victory was a relief.

Another was because their 41-19 defeat of Weber State put them at 1-0 in the Big Sky Conference. Vernon Adams said their non-conference schedule - which concluded with losses at Toledo and Sam Houston State - prepared them well for the league gauntlet.

Big Sky play continues at 2-3 North Dakota Saturday. That's followed by two four-win teams in Southern Utah and Montana. They also have nationally-ranked Montana State, and a Cal Poly team just dropped from the Top-25 up in November. So 1-0 is an important step.

The Eags make their 1st trip to Grand Forks, ND Saturday at 12:35 p.m.
