CHENEY -- The Eastern Washington men's basketball team opens the regular season on Saturday against Portland.
The Eagles played two exhibition games this season. They beat St. Martin's 98-61 on November 1st and they also knocked off Montana State-Billings 67-58 on November 8th.
EWU is trying to build on a less than stellar 2008-09 season. The Eagles were 12-18 overall; 6-10 in the Big Sky Conference. They missed out on the conference tournament for the fifth straight year.
Tip-off between the Eagles and Pilots is set for 1pm at Reese Court on Saturday. It's the first of four games in a week for Eastern Washington to start the season.
