CHENEY -- Ask any fan what the highlights were of the opening weekend of college football and chances are Eastern Washington will be in the conversation. The buzz from their win at Oregon State is still very much hanging around.

As far as football goes, Beau Baldwin and company have put their 49-46 win over the 25th ranked Beavers behind them. Baldwin talked Tuesday about the importance of not getting too carried away with the highs and lows of the season.

The coach does understand why their win has generated such excitement. Along with making headlines, the Eags have made the rounds in the national sports media. On Tuesday quarterback Vernon Adams made a cameo on the Jim Rome Show on CBS Sports Radio.

While their primary goal is always to win a National Championship - as they did in the 2010 season. But big upsets like Saturday's seem to capture national attention to a much greater degree.

"This sometimes gets rembered 10, 12 years from now and gets more national news than truly beating Delaware does," Baldwin said.

The roles are reversed Saturday as EWU makes its home debut against Division II Western Oregon at 4:05 p.m.
