SPOKANE, Wash. – The finishers’ t-shirt color is always a mystery until racers reach the finish line. Each year, it’s a different color.
Only 18 people total in all of Spokane know what color they will be this year. The printers are sworn to secrecy – and the t-shirts are locked up in an undisclosed location only to be revealed on Sunday.
But Bloomsday elite athlete coordinator Jon Neill said there is a certain etiquette to follow, even once runners receive that finisher’s t-shirt at the finish line.
“What just chaps my hide is that when you’re running down Broadway and you see that finisher that has already finished the race, and is coming back to get a loved one – and I admire that – but then has the finisher t-shirt on. And you’re like, “I was waiting to see the color!”
