SPOKANE -- The Whitworth men's basketball team (26-2) will play Eastern Mennonite (24-4) on Friday in the Sweet 16. The game is set for 3pm (PT) at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Whitworth, ranked fourth in the country, is making its third Sweet 16 appearance in the last two years. The Pirates defeated Chapman 77-56 in the second round of the NCAA DIII tournament on Saturday. The Bucs had a bye in the first round.
Eastern Mennonite won two games on its home floor in the opening rounds of the tournament. The Royals defeated Centre College 63-53 and topped Wilmington 85-71. EMC is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. They are currently ranked third in the nation.
Friday's winner takes on either Guilford College (28-2) or Wooster College (25-5) in the Elite Eight on Saturday.
