SPOKANE -- Matt Bouldin, playing at McCarthey Athletic Center for the last time, scored 15 points and Gonzaga closed its regular season Tuesday night with a 78-59 pounding of overmatched Cal State Bakersfield.
Bol Kong scored 13 points and Robert Sacre added ten points for the Bulldogs (25-5).
Bouldin was one of three seniors to say goodbye to the Kennel on Tuesday. Will Foster and walk-on Chris Pontarolo-Maag also played in front of the home fans for the last time. Foster finished with six points and five rebounds, while Pontarolo-Maag, who made the first start of his career, scored two points.
This was the final game for Cal State Bakersfield (7-22), which is in its transition to full Division I status next season. It fell to 0-5 against WCC teams this season.
Trent Blakley led Bakersfield with 19 points, while Donavan Bragg added 13.
Gonzaga returns to action on Sunday night in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs will face either Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, or San Francisco. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm on ESPN2.
