30 second game guide
Bring’em Out: Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) 1-2 vs. Gonzaga 1-1 at the McCarthey Athletic Center at 6 p.m.
Watch for: The motivation factor from the Gonzaga youngsters. After coming up just short at No. 2 Michigan State on Tuesday, it will be interesting to see how the Bulldogs treat a much lesser opponent in the Mastodons. The last thing GU wants to do is give IPFW confidence it can stay close.
Fear: Steven Gray. The Zags’ sophomore swingman has showed the ability to follow up a bad game with a great one. Gray is coming off his worst shooting performance of his career (3/14 FG, 1/8 3PT) vs. the Spartans. Look for this veteran to regain that sharp-shooting accuracy against IPFW on his home floor.
Respect: Deilvez Yearby. The IPFW senior forward has a scorer’s mentality and doesn’t shy away from contact. Yearby’s averaging just under 20 per game this season and over ten shots from the free throw line. He is also a double-double threat every night, as he is one of the Mastodon’s leading rebounders.
Random Stuff: IPFW is the second opponent this season to face Washington State the day before Gonzaga (Mississippi Valley State is the other). Four GU players are accounting for 67.5 of the team’s 81.5 points per game (Bouldin 18.5, Harris 17.5, Sacre 17, Gray 14.5 ppg). The Zags are 64-3 all time in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
