The Spokane Indians earned another victory Friday night, their fifth straight, against the Boise Hawks by the score of 7-2 in front of a sellout crowd of 6,863 at Avista Stadium.
The Indians won five of the six-games in the series against the Hawks.
The Indians started fast, scoring two runs in the first inning. Jason Prince doubled to left field to score Miguel Velazquez and Jason Ogata. Boise's Jae-Hoon Ha homered in the top of the second inning to bring the Hawks within one run.
Danny Lima doubled in the bottom of the third, his seventh of the season, to right field to score Velazquez and Prince. The Indians added two more runs to their 4-1 lead in the fifth inning when Ogata crushed the ball over the left center field wall with Velazquez on base. Boise added a run in the top of the seventh, and Spokane responded in the bottom of the frame as Velzaquez went yard to give the Indians a 7-2 final score.
Velazquez finished the night 2-for-2 with four runs, one home run and one RBI. Ogata, Prince, and Lima each finished the night with two RBIs. Velazquez extended his hitting streak to 13 straight games.
Indians starter Matt Thompson went five inning for the win, allowing one run on four hits while striking out five batters. Geuris Grullon provided two innings in relief, allowing one hit and one run with two strikeouts. Sam Brown closed out the final two innings, giving up just two hits.
The Indians head to Yakima for a three game series against the Bears starting on Saturday.
