SPOKANE -- Indians right fielder Ryan Strausborger put on a hitting display for a sold out crowd of 6,853 on Friday night as Spokane beat the Eugene Emeralds 7-4.
Strausborger drove the second pitch of the game out of Avista Stadium to give the Indians a quick 1-0 lead. Later in the first inning, Jared Hoying hit a run scoring triple. It was one of his two triples on the night, extending his hitting streak to 16 games.
Strausborger came through again in the second inning. He took a wild pitch that scored second baseman Santiago Chirino, and then hit a double on the next pitch past first baseman Connor Powers. Strausborger later registered a single in the sixth and eighth innings to give him four hits on the night.
Starting pitcher Juan Grullon tossed four innings in his first start since an injury on August 8th. Ben Rowen picked up his first professional victory by hurling two scoreless innings in relief.
The Indians and Emeralds face-off again Saturday at Avista Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm.
